Mathematical Practices (K-8)

The MCCS for Mathematical Practice is essential components in developing the mathematical understanding of students. Educators must intentionally provide students with opportunities to use the mathematical practices to foster their understanding. This session will allow educators to dig deeply into the mathematical practices and explore websites that have rich tasks that assist in engaging students in the practices. Session Objectives:

• Explore the Eight Standards for Mathematical Practice.
• Consider how the MCCSM will impact your mathematics program plan next steps
• Examine opportunities to develop skill in explaining and mathematical modeling
